Kabikabok, derived from the playful Khmer idiom កាប៉ិកកាប៉ុក (“Kapik Kapok”), traditionally refers to small, random items or idle chatter—things that might seem unimportant but are part of everyday life. Our Story

Kabikabok was born out of a love for jewelry that speaks to both the heart and the eye. With years of experience in the fine jewelry industry, we set out to create a brand that merges luxury craftsmanship with modern sensibilities. Kabikabok’s journey is deeply rooted in three generations of perseverance, craftsmanship, and family dedication. It all began with my grandparents, who fled Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge regime, seeking safety and a new life. Upon arriving in the United States, they embraced the opportunity to learn a new craft—working with precious metals and stones. Their early years were marked by hardship, but through grit and determination, they established themselves as skilled artisans, specializing in handcrafted jewelry that reflected both their heritage and newfound hope.

My father, inspired by his parents’ craftsmanship, took their legacy to the next level. He transformed the small, family-run business into a growing company, expanding into retail and specializing in fine jewelry. With an eye for precision and quality, he built strong relationships within the community, always holding on to the values of hard work, integrity, and perseverance that my grandparents instilled in him.

While the company was in the infancy of its modernization, my father met my mother, who brought exactly what he was lacking most in the business: a creative eye and artistic vision. With her background in fashion design, she transformed Kabikabok’s offerings, blending timeless craftsmanship with bold, modern aesthetics. As the Artistic Director, she infused each piece with originality, from intricate diamond engagement rings to bespoke luxury designs. Her hallmark ability to turn novel ideas into captivating jewelry not only complemented my father’s business acumen but also laid the foundation for Kabikabok’s evolution into a distinguished luxury brand. 

Now, as the third generation to carry this legacy forward, I, Jourdyn Lao, have taken the reins of Kabikabok with a modern vision. I have combined the timeless craftsmanship passed down through my family with contemporary designs to create a brand that speaks to today’s luxury jewelry lovers.
